Emma Gladstone OBE

Wednesday January 24th 2024Share page

I treasure every memory I have of Emma and feel so fortunate to have been one of the many dance artists that thrived with her encouragement. She made dance happen, with enormous imagination, and many of us had the good fortune to count her as our dance champion.

There is no doubt that balletLORENT would never have become what it is without the care, imagination and encouragement of Emma Gladstone. I wish I had the chance to thank Emma again for how pivotal her support has been. balletLORENT owes her so much, and we would be a far different story without her leap of faith.

I will forever remember her for being incredibly smart, and with a great sense of humour. She was wise, perceptive and gave me the courage to meet some ambitions that would have never happened without her support. She made me have faith in myself and encouraged daring and I loved her for this, and so much more. I adored that she valued dance for babies, children and families, and because of her championing of us as a company we have been creating work for these audiences gladly for 18 years.

Emma was one of the finest women I have ever had the chance to work with. She was life changing and I will forever be grateful for her artistic nurturing and the extraordinary perception she demonstrated. Many of us artists in dance across the world have cause to be thankful that Emma Gladstone lived, worked and made an enormous difference. There is no doubt in my mind that her impact and legacy will continue to impact.

I never imagined a world without her in it. She was so vital, wise, funny and every occasion was better with her presence. You will forever be of the finest people I have ever known. You will not be forgotten. Condolences to family and friends.

Love you always Emma and thank you.

Liv Lorent

I feel a very deep sadness to be writing words of condolence for Emma who has been someone who I have held in the highest regard and who I have been lucky to have known through my long career as Executive Director/Producer for balletLORENT.

She was hugely generous in giving me encouragement and support in this role, and I was one of the lucky ones who got to experience the Producer Farm residential programme with Emma being one of the main contributors, a programme which highlighted her passion in making sure artists and producers had time and space to invest in their personal growth.  She was an extraordinary woman and there will also be a place in my heart for Emma. Rest in peace, you will never be forgotten.

I give my condolences to Emma’s family. Christine
