We aim to make our communications accessible to all, and we will also accept applications through sound/video files. Please get in touch with thomas@balletlorent.com should you require a different format for access.

balletLORENT is an award-winning Dance Theatre company based in Newcastle upon Tyne (John Marley Centre, Scotswood), dedicated to creating ambitious and inclusive high-quality work, which tours the UK’s most prestigious theatres.  We are a female-led company with a mission to create world-class, distinctive dance that appeals to our growing number of diverse family and adult audiences.

balletLORENT is part of the Arts Council of England National Portfolio and a National Strategic Partner of Sadler’s Wells.

We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to develop and deliver our audience development plan, implement, and deliver marketing campaigns for the company’s touring productions, education programme, and films, develop our brand awareness and deliver our day-to-day marketing function.

We are a small organisation with a hands-on approach to our work. As the only marketing person in the company, you’ll be delivering at a strategic level, based on existing plans, developing these strategic plans further, and delivering the day-to-day needs of the marketing function, such as creating social posts, updating the website etc. The nature of our programme means that the mix will vary depending upon where we are in the programme cycle, providing opportunities to embed excellent marketing practice into our daily operation whilst considering how the longer-term function of marketing and comms supports our continued development.

The role reports to the Executive Producer and will collaborate closely with the Artistic Director.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • To lead on the delivery and development of an annual audience development strategy and action plan to develop audiences and to maximise attendance.
  • To create and oversee the briefs for individual design and print projects from inception to completion, including copywriting, proofreading, and managing the sign-off process.
  • To organise and oversee the sourcing of imagery and content, including managing photo and video shoots.
  • To lead on the delivery and development of an annual digital action plan.
  • To lead on the creation, implementation, and evaluation of social media campaigns.
  • To keep up to date with regular analytical reporting for evaluation and end-of-year reporting.
  • To oversee film distribution, including streaming and film festivals.

 Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience of working in a Marketing managerial role.
  • Excellent writing and copywriting skills for a variety of platforms, audience development strategies, and a strong eye for detail.
  • Strong commitment to equality and inclusion.
  • Experience of devising creative audience, touring and digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong IT skills and an understanding of website CMS and software tools including Facebook/Instagram/Twitter ad centre/dashboard.
  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and present data and communicate this internally and externally.
  • An ability to manage multiple workload demands.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends around production time.

In return, we offer:

  • A salary of £27,000-£30,000
  • Pension scheme
  • Entitlement to 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
  • Sick pay
