Pupils from Salford, Dundee and Kirkcaldy to join cast of balletLORENT’s Snow White

Children from primary schools in Salford, Dundee and Kirkcaldy are set to join our professional cast in Snow White as part of its 2026 tour.

In each city, ten pupils have been selected to perform alongside balletLORENT’s dancers, giving them a rare opportunity to experience life on stage in a professional production of the much-loved fairytale.

Children from Summerville Primary School, Salford

In Salford, Years 2 and 3 pupils aged five to seven from Summerville Primary School in Irlam o’th’ Heights will perform at The Lowry on Valentine’s Day, Saturday 14 February 2026.

Meanwhile in Dundee, P3 and P4 pupils aged six to eight from Glebelands Primary School in Stobswell will appear at Dundee Rep on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 February 2026.

In Kirkcaldy, P2–P5 pupils aged six to ten from Valley Primary School will take to the stage at the Adam Smith Theatre on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March 2026.

Across all three locations, the children were chosen for their enthusiasm and spirit following workshops led by balletLORENT artists Gavin Coward and Debbi Purtill, which involved around 120 pupils at each school. The young performers will appear in two scenes of the production. While Snow White is touring multiple venues across England and Scotland, balletLORENT’s young cast initiative ensures that a new group of local children is involved at each stop, allowing pupils to take part without leaving their studies behind.

Teachers at the participating schools praised the experience.

At Summerville Primary, class teacher Ms Tierney said the workshop “brought out the best in the children”, highlighting their creativity and emotional expression.

At Valley Primary in Kirkcaldy, deputy headteacher Dan Woodcraft described the opportunity as “excellent”, adding that it reflected the school’s commitment to learning together as a community.

At Glebelands Primary in Dundee, class teacher Rory Scott said it was “lovely to see the children being so creative and having fun”, calling the performances an “amazing opportunity”.

The children themselves shared a mix of excitement and nerves. Summerville pupil Anania said the workshop showed that “you have to be tough to be a dancer”, while classmate Faith said she “couldn’t believe” she had been chosen.

In Kirkcaldy, Raevyn said they felt “a bit nervous and also happy”, while Victor described being “a tiny bit scared and super excited all at the same time”.

Dundee pupil Lewis admitted he was nervous at first but soon realised “it’s not scary at all”, while Elliot said he was simply “excited to be on stage”.

James MacGillivray, balletLORENT’s education & projects manager, said:
“For many children, taking part in a professional stage production is a unique and transformative experience. It not only builds their confidence and creativity but also enhances their ability to collaborate, communicate, and express themselves in new ways. Schools benefit immensely too, as these workshops enrich their arts provision and inspire both students and teachers alike.”
