Newcastle talent takes centre stage as Snow White: The Sacrifice comes home for its first and only public screening at Tyneside Cinema. Filmed and created entirely in the North East, this dark reimagining of the classic fairy tale is far from the story of innocence most know. Instead, it explores cruelty, envy, and obsession through a unique fusion of dance theatre and cinema.
The screening will be followed by a special Q&A with Ben Crompton, Alex Ayre, and Liv Lorent, celebrating the North East artists who brought this haunting vision to life.
Snow White: The Sacrifice strips the tale to its core, revealing a raw and unflinching world where beauty becomes a weapon, power corrupts, and youth threatens by mere existence. Liv Lorent’s choreography, Carol Ann Duffy’s poetic narration (voiced by Sarah Parish), an original score by Murray Gold, and screen direction by Ben Crompton combine to render the Queen’s descent with visceral intensity.
