International Women’s Day 2026

Sunday March 8th 2026Share page
This International Women’s Day 2026, we celebrate the power of a female-led company and the women who continue to shape its story.

At balletLORENT, female leadership has always meant valuing individuality, experience and truth in performance. For 30 years, Caroline Reece has been part of that journey — an extraordinary milestone in a profession where many dancers retire in their early thirties.

In October 2024, aged 60, she captivated audiences at the premiere at Northern Stage in the leading role of the Queen in Snow White and Snow White: The Sacrifice. In March 2026 she continues to impress audiences in Scotland as we tour Snow White. In a youth-focused industry, her performance brings depth, nuance and magnetic presence — artistry that only decades on stage can cultivate.

When Caroline joined balletLORENT at 32 — considered “older” for a dancer — founder and Artistic Director Liv Lorent saw something different.

“Caroline is one of those rare dancers whose artistry only deepens with age,” says Liv Lorent. “She brings a presence and emotional honesty to the stage that cannot be taught. Her work reminds everyone that dance is not just about technique or youth — it’s about truth, imagination, and the ability to connect with an audience.”

Now 62, Caroline continues to evolve, collaborate and inspire — including through her work with Anthony Lo-Giudice — demonstrating that longevity in dance is possible when talent, determination and creativity intersect.

Today, we celebrate female leadership, resilience and the women who challenge expectations — on stage and beyond.
