Liv’s Reflections on Snow White: A Journey Through Time

Wednesday April 8th 2026Share page
Snow White was our first full-length family work for medium and large-scale venues, following on from the success of Rapunzel, which toured from 2012 to 2015. Snow White premiered and toured from 2015 to 2016 across England, Scotland, and Wales.

In 2025, we returned to revisit Snow White, creating a new version for audiences aged 16+ titled Snow White: The Sacrifice.
We brought together a beautiful cast, including performers from the original production alongside new dancers, for whom it was one of their first shows with balletLORENT. In 2026, we celebrated with our latest tour, which culminated last week in two very busy performances at the wonderful Glasgow Tramway.

I work very collaboratively with each dancer, and much of the choreography is shaped from their bodies and creativity. When dancers move on, their legacy is passed on and reinterpreted by new performers. With each version, the work is refined and developed, allowing it to continue to live and breathe. New dancers are encouraged to bring their own strengths and spirit to the roles they inhabit, creating nuanced characters that feel personal and fully their own.

John originally performed as the King and a Miner, and was later coached by Gavin into the role of the Huntsman. Gwen Berwick was the original Mirror, a role later recreated with and for Aisha in 2025, and then Berta this year. Natalie was the original Snow White in 2015, later passing the role to Virginia while joining the ensemble of Miners. Toby taught Cameron the role of the New King for this tour, which he made his own. Gavin returned to his original role as the Huntsman, performing with great finesse a part he helped create over a decade ago. Caroline, our Queen, originated the role, has sustained it throughout, and has performed in every professional performance. It has been a privilege to watch her continually reflect, refine, and deepen this immense role. Neither she, nor any of the dancers, has ever stopped discovering more within this extraordinary story.

I love the tradition in ballet where experienced dancers pass on their knowledge and expertise to younger performers. What makes our process unique is that we often continue to perform alongside those original artists. It remains a joy to see different generations sharing the stage, and to build long-term relationships with such treasured dancers who inspire so deeply.
Thank you to all the dancers who have inspired me and shared their creativity in bringing Snow White and Snow White: The Sacrifice to life.
